Band Bios

Love, Isabel is Cat Galimidi and David Penner, joined recently by bassist extraordinaire, Stuart Lehman-Brown.

A native of Scotland, CT. Cat spent most of her early years road tripping to anywhere else – singing along with her cousins to Paul Simon’s Graceland. After graduating college w/ too much a cappella under her belt (Noteables), she fled to San Francisco, where she project manages technology and anything else that will lend itself. She still retains the lifelong habit of singing to imaginary audiences in her room every night and occasionally crooning along w/ Pat Benatar.

David Penner, also a lifelong musician taught himself to play guitar in the classic way; with a Crosby Stills & Nash songbook and imitating performing Simon & Garfunkel in small cafes. (There is even footage in existence of David singing to a crowd in Pakistan during high school.) He took a deep (and beautiful) dive into electronic as collaborator, author and acoustic guitar in ‘Andain’ and has recorded w/ artists such as Josh Gabriel and Dave Dresden.

Cat and David have been playing together since 1999 where they met at a friend’s wedding and spent all night pacing circles around the hotel comparing notes on Patti Griffin’s 2nd album.

Bassist Stuart Lehman-Brown, who joined ‘Love, Isabel’ in 2009, began his music career by dancing around the living room to his parents’ records, especially Huey Lewis and the News, The Beach Boys, and Queen. By the age of eight he had all but mastered the recorder and relevant repertoire, including Theme from Star Wars and Hot Cross Buns. Slightly later in life, Stuart had more musical opportunities, playing with dozens of musicians in the San Francisco Bay Area, including jazz veterans Mel Martin, Pete Magadini, Chip Tingle, Phil Mattson, and Harold Jones. He has performed and recorded in styles ranging from bebop and heavy metal to symphonic and drum and bass.

Particular Kind of Heaven is the first effort from ‘Love, Isabel’. In the works for 4 years, the acoustic collection has only recently been polished with the stylings of upright bass, percussion, harmony vocals and  kick-ass engineering of Drew Zagicek of Decibelle in San Francisco.

The trio looks forward to their next collaboration – already underway.
